Kathleen Prasad SARA President San Rafael, CA
Kathleen Prasad is president of the Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA). She has taught Reiki to the staff and volunteers of organizations such as BrightHaven, The CARE Foundation, Best Friends Animal Society, The San Francisco SPCA and Guide Dogs for the Blind. A global leader in the profession, Kathleen has authored the book Reiki for Dogs and co-authored the booksThe Animal Reiki Handbook and Animal Reiki: Using Energy to Heal the Animals in Your Life. She’s been published in magazines such as The Journal of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, Animal Wellness Magazine, Animal Fair, Equine Wellness Magazine, The Whole Dog Journal, Dog Fancy, Feline Wellness and Dogs Naturally Magazine, and featured in several radio and TV programs. Kathleen offers regular classes at BrightHaven Holistic Animal Retreat in Santa Rosa. She also teaches a variety of correspondence and tele-classes. She is available for distant treatments. |

Leah D'Ambrosio SARA Vice President Mountain View, CA
Leah is the Vice President of the Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA) and is a board member of Pregnant Mare Rescue. She has taught animal Reiki classes at the Humane Society Silicon Valley, the Homeless Cat Network, Rabbit Haven and offers regular classes at Pregnant Mare Rescue in Aptos, California. She is currently teaching the SARA Animal Reiki for Reiki Practitioners teleclass. Leah is available for in person animal Reiki treatments. |

Cindie Ambar - SARA Practitioner Cindie Ambar is a SARA Practitioner trained at the Usui Reiki Master’s level by Kathleen Prasad and focuses on Equine Reiki in the Santa Cruz County area. She is the founder of her own non-profit which helps horses in sanctuaries and shelters. Charlotte was previously executive editor of Entrepreneur magazine, where she played a leading role in shaping editorial content and direction for the award-winning publication. In 2004, after her cat was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease, she studied Reiki I under Kathleen Prasad and subsequently managed the disease for several years by combining Reiki with traditional veterinary medicine. Kristin Dodds - SARA Practitioner Kristin Dodds is an Animal Reiki Practitioner based in San Francisco, California. She spends her extra time volunteering with Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael, California. Guide Dogs is a non-profit organization that provides enhanced mobility to qualified blind and visually impaired individuals through partnerships with uniquely skilled dogs. Kristin also likes to travel the world. During her travels she likes to volunteer at organizations promoting animal welfare. Sasha Nelson - SARA Practitioner Sasha Nelson has 15 years experience and training in the animal healing arts. She is an animal Reiki practitioner and a certified equine massage therapist. Sasha's career started with a focus on massage and physical therapy for horses, and has evolved into a Reiki practice for all animals, both large and small. Her life-long ability to intuitively hear and feel animals' stories, pain, trauma, worries and needs makes Reiki healing a natural extension of her inherent gifts. Cathy O'Brien - SARA Practitioner Cathy O’Brien is a Master Level III Animal Reiki Practitioner based in Pacifica, California, who has been doing energy and healing work since the mid 1990’s. Her life-long love and passion for animals led her to the desire to alleviate their pain and dis-ease on any level. Cathy has worked with many different animals, including cats, dogs, horses, birds, rabbit and more. She is on the Board of Directors of the California Gray Whale Coalition. Dale Payne - SARA Practitioner Dale Payne is located in South Lake Tahoe, California, and is a Reiki Practitioner who loves being surrounded by animals and earthly things including her cats and dog, garden and its wild inhabitants, crystals and stones, etc. She practices and encourages critter-friendly gardening, and cares for our planet by treading lightly. Robin Skov - SARA Practitioner Robin Skov is a level 3 Reiki practitioner specializing in senior animals, farm animal and animals rescued from abuse. Through her organization, she donates a portion of her time to animals living in shelters and sanctuaries in the greater Los Angeles area. Jeanne Clune is a SARA Practitioner residing in Mount Kisco, NY. She received her Animal Reiki training with SARA Teacher Kelly McDermott-Burns, and has completed her Usui Advanced Reiki Training. Jeanne is a forever animal lover and has shared her home with a variety of wonderful animal angels. She also enjoys visiting animal sanctuaries when she travels. In South Africa, she had an amazing experience offering Reiki to cheetah cubs. After several minutes of meditation, she opened her eyes to find first one, then all six, licking her palms. Sarah Hauser - SARA Practitioner Sarah Hauser lives and works in New York City and the surrounding areas. She is an animal Reiki practitioner and is also certified in Tellington TTouch for Companion Animals and Bach Flower Remedies. The combination of Reiki and the other modalities she uses can help to address a wide range of physical, emotional and behavioral issues, which can be especially helpful for shelter animals, who are most often traumatized in a number of ways. Kris is a Reiki Practitioner/Teacher and has been practicing Reiki since 1992. She trained in Animal Reiki with Kathleen Prasad of SARA in 2009. In 2010, Kris trained with Frans Stiene of the International House of Reiki. For the past two years Kris has been a Reiki volunteer at Wildlife Works, a wildlife rescue and refuge in Youngwood. This past August, Kris started offering Reiki to animals at The Animal Friends of Westmoreland, a shelter also located in Youngwood. John Sawyer - SARA Teacher John Sawyer is a software engineer and Reiki Teacher who has been owned by 10 dogs over the past 17 years. Through those years, he and his wife, Donna, have dealt with a number of canine health crises which led them through the mainstream veterinary field to alternative health care modalities including acupuncture and Reiki. John took Reiki Level 1 in 1994 and experimented with applying the Reiki techniques to caring for his dogs, eventually taking Level 2 before becoming a Teacher in 2004. He is currently building his animal Reiki practice and offering Reiki training to local shelters and other animal workers in the Lehigh Valley area of Eastern PA. |

Carrie Dorsey-Higdon - SARA Teacher Carrie Dorsey-Higdon is a Reiki Practitioner and Teacher in East Tennessee. Following her Level I, II and Teacher training in Usui/Tibetan Reiki 2007-2009, she completed her Animal Reiki Teacher training with Kathleen Prasad in December 2009. She was initiated into Shinpiden Level III Usui Reiki Ryoho with Frans Stiene, in April 2010. Carrie is a volunteer at Horse Haven of Tennessee, Tennessee’s oldest and largest equine humane organization. She is continually inspired by the strength and courage of these amazing animals, who have suffered so much at the hands of humans. She will be teaching Animal Reiki classes in the Knoxville area starting summer 2010. Carrie and her husband Tommy live on a small farm just outside of Knoxville, with their animal family including horses, dogs and cats. |

Felecia Childress - SARA Teacher Felecia Childress is a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia with a BA in Politics and a Minor in Dance. She has been a Dance Instructor for the past 28 years working with students age 3 to adult. She has always had a strong passion for animals since early childhood and that passion led to her interest in Animal Reiki. After receiving her first Reiki treatment several years ago she took the Level 1 & 2 Reiki class and began working as a practitioner focusing on animals and volunteering at her local SPCA. Because of her love for teaching she went on to become a Reiki Master Teacher and a Karuna Reiki Master and teaches both Reiki classes for humans and animals through her business Dances With P.A.W.S. (People and Animal Wellness Solutions). She also offers private individual sessions for both animals and humans. Felecia volunteers her time offering Reiki sessions to the animals at the Martinsville-Henry County SPCA and teaches Animal Reiki classes there as well. She splits her time between Martinsville and Charlottesville, Virginia where she makes her home with her husband, Ford, an attorney in Charlottesville and their beloved animal family, Montana, Mr. Bojangles Dance, and Tony their 3 dogs, Kalli their cat, and Kimba their bird. |

Allie Phillips - SARA Practitioner Allie Phillips is a SARA Practitioner Member. She volunteers with King Street Cats in Alexandria, VA where she offers energy healing to cats entering the shelter with physical or emotional issues. In 2012, Allie started offering energy healing to horses at a farm in Aldie, Virginia. This work has greatly expanded her ability to listen to the messages and understand that animals give us. Allie is a nationally-recognized expert and advocate for animals and has recently published two animal protection books (Defending the Defenseless: A Guide to Protecting and Advocating for Pets and How Shelter Pets are Brokered for Experimentation: Understanding Pound Seizure). Her book Defending the Defenseless includes a chapter on healing animals that have been abused and Allie educates other that healing is an important aspect of animal protection. |

Monique MacMillian - SARA Teacher Monique McMillian is an Animal Reiki Teacher/Practitioner. Today, horses are her newest passion and she feels right at home at the horse facility where she is learning to ride. She can be heard saying “I owe it all to my 5 year old Rescue Dog Logan who has taught me the most valuable lessons.” Together Logan and Kristy are working towards spreading a deeper understanding of The Animal Human connection. Caroline Thomas - SARA Teacher Caroline Thomas lives in Essex in the Uk and is very proud to be a SARA teacher at SARA Shelter Remus Horse Sanctuary. Caroline teaches both SARA level 1 & 2 Animal Reiki classes at Remus. She is very keen to support her SARA students and is passionate that they can be the best Animal Reiki Practitioners that they can be. Caroline holds Reiki shares at Remus on a regular basis, to practice Japanese meditations and animal healing. In her spare time she makes holistic animal healing pendants for dogs and cats and also rhythm beads and brow band beads for horses. She is a qualified Animal Bach flower practitioner and animal aromatherapist and is happily married with two sons and two Spaniels. |
