HI Caroline,

Thanks so much for sharing such a difficult, yet beautiful story. I find it amazing that the animals never seem to give up hope on the human race. They always seem willing to forgive and accept us. I believe they know there are people like you and places like Remus out there that can help make up for the situation they came from. I only wish I could be more like them in that aspect of forgiving. For me, it is a daily spiritual practice~and not an easy one at times:)

Thank you for being there for them!

Blessings,
Jodie

Hi Caroline,
Thank you for your courage in supporting Bracken in her final days and also in writing it down and sharing it with us.

Something that I have learned from BrightHaven over the years (they bring in many animals for their final days): It seems to me that it is no accident that these animals find their way to amazing places and people like BrightHaven and Gail, Remus and Sue (and you and your Reiki team).

When we put ourselves out there, in the pure heartfelt intention to assist... the animals hear us and find their way.

And in showering them with love in those final days, I truly believe that it makes all the difference in healing their spirits.

Keep up the great work, Caroline!

Lots of love,
Kathleen

Hi, Carolyn,

It's always difficult when these things happen. It can be a challenge not to have expectations for the outcome of our Reiki offerings. We always hope for the best, of course, but "the best" may be something different than what we have in mind.

In any case, as Karen and Brenda said, Reiki was what Bracken needed and she was supported by it in her transition. She's in pure positive energy and joy now, free of her physical burden, for which we can be grateful.

Namaste,

John

What a beautiful piece of writing Caroline!I'm always truly amazed and humbled by the reactions of abused animals to 'new' humans...that so many are willing to trust again is always the miracle...how long they live is in greater hands than ours! Reiki is so wonderful in helping these precious souls do what they need to do.
What you did with Bracken was perfect...letting go of the outcome is always so hard.XxX

This was emotionally very difficult to write. I started with such hope and optimism that Bracken would be grazing with her new friends by the time I had finished it. Reiki supported Bracken during her final weeks which I am so grateful for. Her biggest support was the Remus staff and volunteers. They worked tirelessly to save beautiful Bracken. It was not meant to be, but her last weeks at Remus were her happiest.
