Bill Stevens is a member of the Congregation of Christian Brothers and taught in their schools in Canada, the West Indies and the United States for over twenty years before studying for hospital chaplaincy. He then served as a chaplain for ten years in three different hospitals the last of which was in New Brunswick, NJ as Director of Pastoral Care in the mid-80′s. At that time the AIDS crisis was reaching epidemic proportions and Bill created a non-profit organization called Chrysalis Ministry to do outreach to people living and dying with this disease. This is when he learned Reiki and he used it frequently as one of the components of his ministry during this 12 year period of time.
Bill has been practicing Reiki for 19 years and has been teaching it for the past nine years. He now works part time with the Visiting Nurses Hospice Program as a salaried Reiki practitioner for their clients. More recently he was drawn to study with Frans Stiene from the International House of Reiki and completed his studies with Kathleen Prasad in the December ’09 Reiki III Animal Training Program at Brighthaven. He now looks forward to working with SARA to make a difference in the shelters in his local Jersey Shore community.
